Wal-Mart names CEO of Walmart Latin America

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has named the head of its Walmart de Mexico business as president and CEO of its Walmart Latin America regional operations.

The retailer, based in Bentonville, Ark., said Friday that Eduardo Solorzano will oversee Wal-Mart operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico.

Solorzano will be based in Wal-Mart’s Latin American regional office in Miami and will assume his new role Jan. 18.

Walmart de Mexico also said Solorzano has been elected as chairman of its board. It said its chief operating officer, Scot Rank, will replace Solorzano as president and CEO of Walmart de Mexico.

Wal-Mart shares slipped 4 cents to $52.72 in afternoon trading.
