Kansas Lottery hopes to have casino deal soon

TOPEKA, Kan. — Officials of the Kansas Lottery hope a new plan for a Wichita-area casino will emerge by year’s end.

Lottery spokeswoman Sally Lunsford says agency officials and the Chisholm Creek partnership are negotiating over a proposed contract. She says the lottery can’t comment further.

The lottery and Chisholm Creek had agreed previously on a proposal for a $225 million casino complex in Sumner County near Mulvane, about 20 miles south of Wichita.

But Chisholm Creek requested and received more time last week to revise its plans.

Kansas law provides for private developers to build and manage casinos under contract with the state.
